CapSouth Wealth Management is a growing Wealth Management company headquartered in Dothan, Alabama, with offices and clients in additional Southeast locations.

Position Overview

As a Financial Planning Advisor, you will be responsible for servicing a group of clients in Alabama. You will work closely with the Personal Wealth Director and, over time, develop the potential to lead a team consisting of an Associate Advisor and Client Service Associate. Due to its location in Dothan, Alabama, this role is perfect for someone who embraces southern culture, enjoys being part of a close-knit community, and is excited by the opportunity to grow within our organization.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Take the lead on client relationships, handling most clients and situations independently.
  • Develop and deliver holistic planning recommendations to ideal clients.
  • Create financial plans utilizing MoneyGuide Pro and provide financial guidance.
  • Oversee clients' investments and strategy.
  • Provide tax planning through Holistiplan and other software.
  • Lead internal client review meetings.
  • Be able to advise on a wide range of topics such as: stock options, RSUs, deferred compensation, solo 401(k)s, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, defined benefit plans, basic risk analysis (life, disability, LTC), buy-sell agreements, estate planning, RMD and QCD advisement, tax scenario planning, DAF management, trust distribution assistance and monitoring, and the ability to coordinate with outside tax and legal advisors.

Experience and Education Expectations:
  • CFP® or ChFC® designation with experience leading client relationships.
  • Experience with MoneyGuide Pro or RightCapital required.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Tamarac preferred.
  • Existing book of business is not an expectation.

Skills and Knowledge Expectations:
  • Excellent communication and listening skills (asks great questions!)
  • Enjoys working directly with clients on a very personal level.
  • Exceptional client service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to do the planning work, not just delegate the work to another.

  • A role suited for someone who is uncomfortable with change or lacks the desire to embrace and contribute to a collaborative culture. The right individual will be able to navigate the flexing nature of our business and see the potential opportunities within.
  • A clearly defined position with a well-tested training process. We do not have a well-defined training process, so the right individual will be understanding, driven to learn, and have the ability to be self-taught, while not afraid to ask questions.
  • A sales role. While we do expect the individual to develop relationships through networking in the community, create a personal marketing plan for how they can get infront of their ideal clients, and be able to take a warm prospect and lead them to becoming a client, this role is not business development focused and will not be required to "drum up leads" or call from a list.
