Role Description
The Finance and Operations Manager is a full-time, in-person employee responsible for managing financial and operational systems, processes, and internal controls. The position's primary goal is to ensure the day-to-day business and financial operations run effectively and efficiently. The individual must be willing to get their hands dirty and have a "whatever it takes" attitude and approach to the work.
Financial Responsibilities:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the business finances including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate and lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with other members of the management team to develop financial plans and targets.
Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability.
Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure the timely completion of audits and tax filings.
Communicate appropriate financial information to all stakeholders, including the board of directors, lenders, and insurance carriers.
Provide financial leadership and support, assisting with strategic decision-making and business planning.
Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
Operations Responsibilities:
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the business including but not limited to inventory planning and buying, and warehouse operations.
Implement efficient processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
Track and organize inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock availability while minimizing stock outs or excess inventory levels
Collaborate with other departments such as marketing and customer support to ensure cross-functional synergy across the business
Qualifications:
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, preferably with e-commerce and/or retail experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
Exposure to e-commerce technologies like Shopify is a plus.
