Leverage technical expertise and leadership to assure safety and quality of Kroger branded products. Work closely with and monitor manufacturing or fresh food facilities to maintain relevant Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification. Ensure all labeling and packaging meets legal requirements.   • Bachelor's Degree in food science technology, dairy science, bakery science, food microbiology or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and food safety/quality systems in a fresh food preparation or manufacturing environment
  • HACCP certification
  • CQA, PCQI, internal auditor training or related function
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in project management, problem solving and execution
  • Advanced knowledge in food microbiology, refrigerated foods, U.S. Department of Agriculture USDA and FDA regulations, specialty ingredients or supplement regulations
  • Multiple audit scheme experience/ability to oversee facility compliance to GFSI certification body standards
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
DESIRED PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • 5+ years leadership experience promoting quality concepts/principles and overseeing the Kroger Co. Quality Management System
  • Any experience/expertise to validate changes to food safety fundamentals, food safety plans and food quality plans that impact the Kroger manufacturing network's ability to deliver, safe quality food
  • Any experience with statistical process control (SPC) and Lean/Six Sigma
  • Any experience implementing/maintaining robust quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001, 22000, SQF, BRC)
  • Proficient with product lifecycle management (PLM), Redzone, Teams, other LIMS systems

  • Develop, maintain/improve food safety and quality plans for all processes at food facilities, including inspection plans, product testing protocols/methodologies
  • Perform regulatory food safety, sanitation compliance and quality system audits at facilities; issue written reports
  • Assist facilities in developing improvement action plans; closely monitor progress against objectives
  • Develop/maintain appropriate GFSI scheme policies, procedures, training materials, logs, documentation, certificates of analysis, product specification sheets and records to ensure certification standards are met
  • Analyze customer comments; partner with facilities to resolve product quality and food safety issues
  • Collaborate with product development teams to maintain/improve finished product specifications
  • Compile/analyze statistical data and product specification information to determine standards; help establish finished product quality/reliability expectations
  • Oversee root cause/corrective action processes to ensure timely completion and thorough analysis of root cause/corrective actions; ensure effective implementation of sustainable changes to prevent reoccurrence
  • Ensure effective environmental monitoring programs are established and followed
  • Identify/drive continuous improvement
  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements
  • Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
