Utah Transit Authority

As directed by the Benefits Supervisor, administers benefits related programs. Oversees benefit enrollment offerings to new employees, approves enrollment in benefit software, enters and authorizes participant status/eligibility changes and terminations in benefit software/ HRIS, and completes benefit enrollment/changes/termination reporting to vendors. Research issues involving benefit eligibility, enrollment, and payroll deduction errors. Completes payroll processes to collect or reimburse premiums based on mid-month benefit plan changes. Educates employees/participants on benefit plans. Provides excellent customer service support to internal and external customers. Participates in onsite visits to assist employees in benefit enrollment processes during Open Enrollment. Ensures compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state laws/regulations such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), HIPAA, COBRA, and IRC. Completes additional assignments and duties as needed.EDUCATION/TRAINING:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Human Resources Management, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Two years direct experience administering benefit plans.
Knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of benefit plan designs and programs, including benefit eligibility provisions, benefit coverage details, and benefit limitations.
  • Functional knowledge of laws and requirements re: ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and Medicare.
  • Claims background and experience preferred.
Skills:
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel (preferred).
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, including during tight processing deadlines.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.
Ability to:
  • Research and solve complex benefits related issues as they arise.
  • Understand and articulate various benefit terms, plan details, and programs.
  • Build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Keep detailed logs and accurate records.
