Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled AV (Audio-Visual) Programmer-Commissioner to join our team. In this dual-role position, you will be responsible for both programming AV systems and ensuring successful commissioning of AV projects across various industries, including corporate, education, healthcare, and government. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and installers to bring AV designs to life and guarantee their functionality and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Programming:

  • Program and configure AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc.) to meet project specifications.
  • Develop user-friendly touch panel interfaces, control scripts, and macros for seamless operation.
  • Integrate AV equipment such as projectors, displays, video conferencing systems, audio processors, and lighting controls.
  • Write and troubleshoot complex programming logic to ensure all AV components function harmoniously.
  • Collaborate with design teams to review technical drawings and programmatic requirements.
  • Test and debug control system programs in both onsite and offsite environments.

Commissioning:

  • Lead the commissioning process for AV systems, ensuring that all components are installed, configured, and operating as per design specifications.
  • Perform system testing, calibration, and performance optimization, including audio tuning and video alignment.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to ensure that wiring, equipment installation, and configuration align with programming requirements.
  • Work directly with end-users to train them on the operation of AV systems and address any user experience improvements.
  • Document all commissioning activities, including system test results, user guides, and as-built drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AV system integration, performance, and usability during the commissioning phase.
  • Provide remote or onsite technical support for completed projects during warranty or service periods.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an AV programmer with demonstrated expertise in control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc.). Prior experience in commissioning AV systems is highly desirable.
  • Programming Certifications: Crestron Certified Programmer (CCP), AMX Certified Programmer, and/or Extron Control Professional certifications are preferred.
  • DSP Certifications: Biamp Tesiraforte, Q-SYS Level I, and/or Extron Pro DSP certifications are preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, audio/video codecs, and video distribution systems.
    • Proficiency in control system programming languages (SIMPL, NetLinx, Global Configurator).
    • Familiarity with DSP configuration and audio tuning (e.g., Biamp, QSC, Extron, BSS).
    • Experience with video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Polycom).
    • Understanding of IP networking and AV-over-IP solutions.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
