Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Executive Vice President of Business Development, the Water/Wastewater Business Development Representative will coordinate and work with the Business Development team, Operations, Marketing, and Pursuit teams, initiate contact with prospective clients, attend various tradeshows and industry events, conduct market analysis, and develop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.

This position will focus on developing and capturing work related to private and governmental clients including water resources, water/wastewater, conveyance, and treatment. This position supports a proactive and growing company by providing research and generating leads and is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key owners, designers, and other industry contacts. The Water/Wastewater Business Development Representative will assist the Executive VP of BD with developing a strategy that provides innovative technical solutions to our national infrastructure clients.

This position will report to the Washougal, Washington office when not traveling.

Education:

  • BS Engineering degree in Civil, Mechanical, Geotechnical, Construction, Marine or another related field.

Experience:

  • Five years’ professional experience in the business development department within an A/E/C firm
  • Experience with a CRM Database, preferably Microsoft Dynamics
  • A proven track record in the Water/Wastewater market required

Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain, and expand the existing network of clients, key industry influencers, and organizations to generate opportunities to meet annual revenue goals for this market sector.
  • Prepre and deliver presentations and pitches to prospective clients, key designers, industry groups, and interested parties.
  • Leverage knowledge of markets to effectively communicate and describe in detail Ballard’s services within the Water/Wastewater and other Ballard Markets, including Power, Industrial, Environmental, and Transportation.
  • With a focus on customer satisfaction and in collaboration with the Business Development and Operations teams, support the improvement of business processes through analysis, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Report on and act on market conditions, activities, and trends, including customer or prospect changes, technical developments, market dynamics, and competitive strategies.
  • Clearly and succinctly articulate Ballard’s strategic vision to key stakeholders and potential customers.
  • Coordinate pre-show planning, attend, and complete post-show activities for domestic and international trade shows.
  • Work with the BD and Operational teams to support strategically identifying and implementing growth initiatives within the Water/Wastewater market.
  • Perform market research to identify new opportunities to target. Capture those targets in the CRM.
  • Maintain a pipeline of Leads and Opportunities and reflect all updates within the CRM.
  • Ensure effective education of internal and external clients through white papers and technical concept sharing.
  • Drive alternative procurement (Early Contractor Involvement/Progressive Design-Build) and drive revenue and profit-generating opportunities.
  • Work with Operations to develop project pursuits that will result in winning proposals. Tasks will include assisting in assembling internal and external project teams, attending meetings, taking on responsibilities within the team, participating in interview prep, and coordinating with the client through the contractor selection.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands Working Environment:

  • May visit project sites and be able to work in varied weather conditions and in a construction environment, around equipment/machinery.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.

Salary Range:

  • $80K - $110K per year
  • Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications
