Who are we looking for?

The Environment, Health & Safety Specialist is an integral role at the Ferndale, Michigan site. The role will be responsible for supporting the EHS Manager by providing full cycle Health & Safety support across the business. The EHS Specialist will have responsibility for providing guidance to specific projects in addition to discharging their duties required to ensure compliance with health & safety legislation.

What will you be doing?

Assisting the EHS Manager with the following:

  • Hazardous waste program
  • 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Preparing process safety management and risk management plans
  • HAZWOPER spill response team
  • OSHA or equivalent programs
  • Prevent and reduce spill, injury and emergency response incidents
  • Develop, conduct and document safety, health and environmental training programs
  • Ensure that all EH&S control, monitoring, record keeping and reporting requirements are satisfied and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Assist in the preparation of all federal, state and provincial regulatory EH&S reporting and permitting submittals
  • Onsite wastewater treatment

Who are You?

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing / industrial setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA / MIOSHA Standards
  • Experience of carrying out and documenting risk assessments
  • Experience in environmental management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills required.
