Job Description:

The Portfolio Manager provides a wide range of credit related and monitoring functions relative to the ongoing management of the commercial loan portfolio while supporting one or more Commercial Relationship Manager. The Portfolio Manager is a client-facing role that acts as a primary or secondary point of contact for commercial relationships. The loan portfolio may consist of all types of commercial loans including but not limited to lines of credit, term notes, commercial real estate loans and/or commercial construction loans.

  • Compile and analyze credit and financial information of current and potential commercial banking customers; prepare complete and accurate credit proposals to enable informed decision making.
  • Monitor commercial loan portfolios for early identification of potential problems and ensure that all loans are properly risk rated.
  • Monitor loan delinquencies, maturities, renewals, amendments, modifications and extension of assigned portfolios. Perform routine collections of updates data/information and prepare scheduled loan reviews. Monitor/track reporting requirements within the covenants of the loan documents. Prepare covenant testing analysis, covenant memos and compliance reports as needed.
  • Provide assistance in the structuring and maintenance of commercial relationships, including negotiating, underwriting, pricing, credit quality, reporting of problems, completing in-depth reviews of financial statements and receiving all required documentation.
  • Work with the Credit Department to facilitate the preparation of credit underwriting and analysis of new loans, renewals and modifications.
  • Assist with the retention and expansion of existing client relationships, growth of total client assets and net growth in relationships.
  • Work with loan services to resolve operational issues in relation to commercial loans.
  • Monitor relevant market trends to identify emerging credit issues and inform management as needed.
  • Assist the Commercial Relationship Managers in the identification of cross-sell or referral opportunities and supports all commercial sales efforts.
  • Participate in and/or help prepare for calls with customers or Commercial Relationship Manager.
  • Coordinate with various partners within the Bank to ensure the best possible experience for the customer.
  • Stay abreast of all applicable policies and procedures, federal and state laws.
  • Prepare and review loan files for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain familiarity with credit policy changes.
  • Maintain loan files in compliance with the Bank's credit policy.
  • Complete site visits as needed and prepare site visit reports for loans in your portfolio in accordance with credit policy and procedures
  • Participate in special project as needed and perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

Education, Training and Work Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in finance or other related field of study or equivalent work experience is required.
• Minimum 5 years commercial banking experience.
• Knowledge of general banking operations and activities is desired.
• Prior experience in credit analysis and/or preparation of credit memorandum for loan approvals is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are needed.
• Must be organized and able to multi-task while managing several items simultaneously
• Demonstrated computer literacy in all Microsoft applications is necessary for success
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision
