Job Title: Staff Accountant



Job Summary:



The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions of the organization. This role includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, processing transactions, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. Experience with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) or similar ERP software is required to efficiently handle tasks related to general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.



Key Responsibilities:




  • General Ledger Accounting:


    • Prepare and post journal entries in the general ledger.

    • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts on a monthly basis.

    • Assist in the month-end and year-end close process.



  • Accounts Payable & Receivable:


    • Manage the full cycle of accounts payable and receivable processes.

    • Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.

    • Reconcile AR and AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger.



  • Bank and Account Reconciliation:


    • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and various general ledger accounts.

    • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.



  • Financial Reporting:


    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external use.

    • Provide supporting documentation for audits and financial reviews.

    • Generate reports and analysis using Great Plains or similar ERP software.



  • Budgeting and Forecasting Support:


    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by providing financial insights and data.

    • Track actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.



  • Compliance and Auditing:


    • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.

    • Support external audits by preparing documentation and schedules.



  • Process Improvement:


    • Identify areas for process improvement within the accounting function.

    • Assist in the implementation and optimization of ERP software functionality.





Qualifications:




  • Education:


    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.



  • Experience:


    • Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience.

    • Hands-on experience with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) or similar ERP software required (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).

    • Experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting.



  • Skills and Abilities:


    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

    • Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.



  • Certifications (Preferred):


    • CPA or working towards CPA certification is a plus.
