Temporary Commercial/Industrial Property Appraiser - Assessing Department
The City of Warren is accepting applications without regard to race or sex for the position of Temporary Assessing Commercial/Industrial Property Appraiser. The work involves the following:
Measure buildings and land improvements; make computations of buildings and land; make sketches, drawings and graphs relating to assessment data.
Classify buildings according to type, occupancy, and location; determine depreciation of improvements costs; determine classification of property for assessments.
Calculate appraisal and assessed values from collected data.
Read and interpret land descriptions.
Prepare Land Value and Tax Maps; prepare Sale Studies; determine Economic Conditioning Factors.
Explain assessment appraisals and procedures to taxpayers.
Assist in all functions of the Board of Review.
Prepare evidence for appeals, and defend assessment records before the Michigan Tax Tribunal.
Requirements
Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO) professional designation from the Michigan State Tax Commission or equivalent Michigan Certified General Real Estate Appraiser License.
Seven years’ experience in the appraisal of complex Commercial and Industrial Real Property with working knowledge of BS&A.net Software system.
Three years, experience using the Apex Sketching Program.
Valid driver’s license
Driving record must meet city’s standards for insurability
Pay rate: $40.00-$43.65/hour
