The College of Dentistry is looking for a Sr. Patient Services Rep to join the team! This position coordinates schedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provides clerical assistance toward the smooth operation of the facility.
Duties:
Answers telephones and documents patient information.
Obtains patient demographics on new patients and updates demographics on established patients.
Collects and verifies proof of income in order to determine what sliding scale discount is appropriate.
Prepares and enters healthcare providers schedules into the computer.
Prepares ancillary forms for other services, to include but not limited to xrays, vascular studies, etc.
Prints and faxes physician schedules to offices.
Pulls patient charts for appointments or to file lab, x-ray, hospital information or other information into the chart.
Copies medical records for patients and other providers or facilities.
Requests medical records from other facilities.
Triages perspective patients.
Discusses financial accounts with patients.
Verifies insurance eligibility and primary care physicians for patients.
Secures referrals to/from other providers for HMO patients.
Receive and manage all incoming referrals
Understand urgencies based upon dental needs and medical conditions
Communicate professionally with referring dental providers, medical providers and school-based health programs
Manage records received from referral sources
Support patient/family needs
Communicate with residents and faculty regarding referred patients
Report back to referral sources when patient care is scheduled, initiated and completed
Outreach to build referrals
Coordinates hospital operating room and clinic schedules as directed for patients requiring multiple services.
Axium scheduling
Epic scheduling
Patient/parent pre operative instruction and support (NPO, H&P, transportation, etc)
Medical and dental pre authorization as indicated by insurances
Medical consultations
Combo case coordination
Management of perioperative medical modification plans (antibiotics, blood products, MH precautions, etc)
Communication with residents and faculty regarding surgery patients and schedule
Determine need for pre admission
Communication with pre admit and pre op services
Arrange for transports, admits, medical supports, etc for inpatient surgery cases
Patient/family support (reminders about H&P, appointment confirmation, pre and post op instruction reviews, follow up appointments, etc)
Communicate with and schedule anesthesia providers
Provide weekly patient schedules, patient medical histories, and patient demographics to anesthesia providers
Order and manage anesthesia equipment (ex intubation supplies, IV supplies, etc)
Order and manage anesthesia medications (ex. Ketamine, Versed, Demerol, Propofol, Morphine, etc)
Order and manage emergency rescue equipment and medication (ex rescue oxygen, bag/masks, epi, narcan, etc)
Organization of any hospital and/or dental board inspections or licensing
Coordination (with dental assistants) of dental supplies needed for volume dentistry
Required education: High School Diploma or GED, AND:
18 months experience with a minimum of 6 months experience in a clinical environment and 12 months experience in a customer-service role.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Ability to enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.
