A family owned Subaru retailer in Central Mass is seeking a Controller as ours will be retiring after 45+ years. The Controller will report to Retailer Principal/General Manager directly and manage a small office staff.
Essential Duties
Hires, trains, and supervises office personnel
Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to dealership guidelines within the manufacturer's format and time frame. Ensures that all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection , are current and accurate
Interprets the financial statement and daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs dealer of developing trends
Participates in the preparation of short and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership
Maintains an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash
Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates
Reviews the reconciliation of the general ledger accounts with outside sources to insure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable
Ensures compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes, and deposits, income taxes, employee benefits, etc.
Ensures all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyzes and supervises the preparation of all information in order to minimize audit or review costs
Manages a staff of employees who are employed in a clerical capacity. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Maintains a professional appearance
Requirements
Must have completed at least a B.A. or B.S degree from a four-year college or university
Should have at least 3-5 years experience in automotive accounting/office management
Experience using Reynolds and Reynolds/UCS software is preferred
