The District is seeking to fill one Senior Treatment Plant Operator IV position. This position will be filled at a salary step dependent on experience and qualifications. This position's primary worksite will be the OVSD WWTP located at 6363 N. Ventura Ave, Ventura CA 93001.
The District is pro-actively succession planning and looking to develop leaders, mentors and the skills of individuals committed to long term careers and advancement in the wastewater industry. This position MUST be willing to assume the role of Chief Plant Operator (CPO), if designated. When qualified and based on state/required certifications, this position can promote to a Treatment Plant Operator V.
The Ojai Valley Sanitary District (District) provides sanitary sewer service, collection & treatment, for residents of the City of Ojai and the unincorporated Ojai Valley.
This position is an advanced journey-level position that performs complex and difficult operations and maintenance activities required in keeping the treatment plant functioning properly. Incumbents must have specific knowledge of procedures, practices, operation, and maintenance of wastewater treatment and are required to be fully trained in all areas of assigned responsibility. May functionally lead less experienced plant personnel. In the absence of a Treatment Plant Operator V, this position may assist the Collection and Treatment Operations Manager with safety, compliance with regulatory agency's requirements, and developing and ensuring the subordinates follow established policies and procedures. This position works under the direction of the Treatment Plant/Collection System Operations Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
Education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade or equivalent experience.
Experience
Four (4) years of journey-level experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, performing duties comparable those assigned to the Treatment Operator III in the OVSD or similar district/agency.
Supervisory experience highly desirable
Licenses or Certifications
A valid class C California Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to District insurance carrier
Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification from California State Water Resources Control Board.
Additional wastewater/environmental certifications highly desirable and will be considered.
