Overview

DLH Corp is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to serve on a multi-disciplinary team that conducts, analyzes, and reports on findings from epidemiological and clinical studies on behalf of the federal government. The studies that we conduct focus on autoimmune diseases and environmental exposures. Lab technicians are the heart of our teams business operations activities and the soul that keeps our team and our projects moving forward. Candidates with prior experience in health research or related fields are encouraged to apply. **This position requires onsite support at the NIH 5 days per week at NIH campus located in Bethesda, MD.**

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with Bio-specimen processing and storage, including labeling
  • Handling and processing blood samples including PBMC isolation
  • Retrieves and prepares specimens for shipment
  • Supports specimen inventory management through a laboratory inventory management system
  • Transporting Bio-specimens from clinical sites to lab for processing.
  • Performing DNA and RNA extractions and measuring concentration.
  • Performing and keeping record of liquid nitrogen freezer readings.
  • Responding to freezer alarms during business day work hours.
  • Working closely with the lab manager to Identify key tasks and maintaining task lists for within and across projects
  • Collaborating with contract managers and project manager to develop timelines, budgets, and contractual documents
  • Scheduling internal and external meetings, setting agendas, writing minutes, and documenting action items
  • Developing and maintaining study operation manuals, questionnaires, and other ancillary documents
  • Purchasing study materials and reviewing invoices and purchase orders
  • Supporting the preparations of reports and presentations for internal leadership and clients
  • Maintaining central study and contract files, including training records, study documents, and regulatory documents
  • Assisting with the BSI labelling and BSI data entry
  • Assisting with software development and testing for data collection
  • Assisting with quality control and data management tasks
  • Perform additional duties as required
  • May requires handling or moving lab equipment up to 50 lbs

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in, biological sciences, microbiology, chemistry or related skills required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience supporting clinical research required
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment required
  • Experience with BSI software preferred
  • Basic experience using MS Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work collaboratively as well as independently
