What You'll Do:
Genospace is seeking a Data Scientist to deliver quality Outcomes Research in various healthcare settings, primarily using a Records-Based approach. The Data Scientist's primary focus areas will be data management, biostatistics, scientific writing, and direct collaboration with medical and research professionals. The Data Scientist's responsibilities will include evaluating the feasibility of proposed research, providing feedback and helping refine research protocols, planning and documenting research analyses, executing planned analyses, writing sections of manuscripts for publication, reviewing full manuscripts for publication, and presenting analyses and results to medical and research professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Query, process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
Engineer features from raw clinical, demographic, and financial data and build research datasets and registries to be used in biostatistical analysis and modeling
Support concept development and analytic plan development for scientific research studies, and lead the investigation and presentation of scientific results in peer-reviewed publications and conferences
Collaborate in shared repositories using version control (git)
Work in close, regular collaboration with medical researchers and their staff
Work on multiple projects simultaneously; track deliverables and manage time appropriately to account for shifts in demand
What We're Looking For:
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.
Education
Masters degree in quantitative field, such as data science, predictive analytics, statistics, physics, or mathematics
or
Bachelors degree in quantitative field with a 2+ years of research experience and 1+ medical science journal publication(s)
Critical Skills
Strong skills with a data science relevant programming language, such as R (preferred) and/or Python
Strong skills with one or more SQL dialects and relational databases (MS SQL Server, Teradata, BigQuery)
Strong understanding of applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, survival analysis, dimension reduction, etc.
Understanding of supervised and unsupervised machine learning models, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees, Gradient Boosting, etc.
Experience with data visualization libraries such as ggplot2 and/or matplotlib
Experience with regular expressions & natural language processing
Desire to collaborate with physicians and scientists on manuscripts to be published in the medical science journals
Desire to learn about and understand various biomedical domains, such as solid tumor and blood cancers, orthopedics, cardiovascular health, and others
Desire and ability to read scientific literature and apply that knowledge to current research efforts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-have but not required
Experience with APIs (ODBC, FHIR, Google Cloud Platform, MS Azure)
Experience with version control software (git)
Experience with writing production-ready code
Experience with concepts in relevant fields of application - therapeutics, molecular biology, oncology, clinical trials, electronic medical records, ICD10 codes, HIPAA
