A DAY IN THE LIFE



Our Biologist/Ecologist/Wetland Scientist position is located in Oakland CA and consists of 25% Field and 75% Office.



As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities, including:


Montrose Environmental is seeking to hire a Biologist, Ecologist, or Wetland Scientist, or some combination of these qualifications for our Oakland office. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of consulting experience in environmental compliance (CWA, ESA/CESA, CEQA) and northern California flora/fauna surveys. Responsibilities may include site assessments, leading environmental compliance and permitting efforts, biological monitoring for project implementation, and writing a variety of reports and planning documents.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS



To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


General requirements for this position include a strong educational background in a relevant environmental or biological science, an advanced degree is preferable but not required. Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to write complex technical documents, and communicate well with clients and project stakeholders. Candidates should be comfortable with quantitative analysis and familiar with analyzing and working with different types of environmental data.


Target qualifications for this position include:


  • Wetland delineation training and experience


  • knowledge of plant taxonomy and botany


  • Construction monitoring experience, including avian surveys


  • Familiarity with Endangered Species Act (ESA) section 10 (a)(1)(A) recovery permits


  • General understanding of hydrologic and watershed processes as they apply to natural resource management and restoration


  • GIS skills


  • Experience developing scopes of work, budgets, and delivery schedules for biological work tasks as listed above
