The Team



The Elfers Cardiovascular Center is located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (2014 Washington Street, 2nd floor, in Newton, MA). Our team provides a wide range of outpatient care for patients who have a high risk of heart disease. We provide diagnosis, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventive care.

The Opportunity



We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support our practice onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Dedicated to clinical support as true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants are trained to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the multidisciplinary care team. While we ideally aim to have our clinical support staff members working 1:1 with an assigned provider, they do cross-cover, rotate, and collaborate with various providers to develop their skills, expose them to different styles, and expand their clinical knowledge.


Responsibilities include:


  • Ensuring efficient patient flow through the office

  • Assisting during office visits (rooming, examinations, point of care testing, immunizations, procedures, phlebotomy, and treatments as directed)

  • Performing clinically appropriate tasks related to panel management (general patient guidance, test results, prescription refills, coordination of care, etc.)

  • Maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas

  • Interacting with patients and their families in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program, nursing student, or Paramedic required.

  • CPR training required.

  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant preferred

  • Specialty care/cardiology experience preferred
