Weatherford is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lean Specialist to drive continuous improvement initiatives across our operations. In this pivotal role, you will champion lean manufacturing principles, facilitate process optimization, and foster a culture of operational excellence. Your expertise will be instrumental in streamlining workflows, reducing waste, and enhancing overall efficiency, contributing to our commitment to delivering exceptional value to our customers. Located in the Norh Houston area at our Repair and Maintenance Facility.
OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY
Assist Plant Manager or local leadership with definition of Strategic projects and A3 thinking.
Identify process improvement opportunities in collaboration with other functional leaders, employees and customers and categorize opportunities as improvement vs action activities, projects, or kaizen events.
Develop, deploy and sustain lean manufacturing processes.
Support both process and transactional productivity improvement or waste reduction projects.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with plant leadership to define strategic projects and implement A3 thinking methodologies.
Develop and drive Value Stream Mapping (VSM), including current state analysis, future state design, and transformation plans.
Coordinate the deployment and sustainment of the Lean Manufacturing Program, including developing, implementing, and maintaining lean processes.
Identify, create, and sustain standardized processes across the organization.
Implement Shop Daily Management (SDM) practices.
Facilitate lean daily management, promote initiatives to cultivate a Lean culture, including Gemba walks, 6S/visual management.
Support process and transactional productivity improvement or waste reduction projects.
Ensure alignment and effective communication within Product Lines and Operations.
Provide guidance on Lean and Six Sigma principles, methodologies, and tools to support business objectives.
Validate project savings with the local Controller (EBITDA and Working Capital).
Mentor and develop potential lean practitioner candidates.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in lean manufacturing as a continuous improvement leader, lean lead, black belt, or similar role.
Proven experience as Kaizen Facilitator.
Successful practical experience in VSM, 6S, 5Why, TPM, Standard Work, Mistake Proofing, SIPOC, Process Mapping, Kanban, SMED, Types of Waste & Waste Reduction, Visual Management, Shop Floor Management, Hoshin Planning, Cellular Manufacturing, PDCA and/or DMAIC cycles.
Preferred
Certified Lean Practitioner or Six Sigma Black Belt is strongly preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Advanced knowledge and ability to teach VSM, 6S, 5Why, TPM, Standard Work, Mistake Proofing, SIPOC, Process Mapping, Kanban, SMED, Types of Waste & Waste Reduction, Visual Management, Shop Floor Management, Hoshin Planning, Cellular Manufacturing, PDCA, and DMAIC cycles.
Excellent leadership traits with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate at all levels, from the shop floor to senior management.
Hands-on, energetic approach with a focus on engaging and sustaining employees in a Lean culture.
Strong organizational and computer skills, including experience with MS Office and manufacturing software.
Ability to shift priorities and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
Tenacious in learning the specifics of the business.
Strong training and presentation skills.
Proficiency in 2D layouts and AutoCAD.
Travel Requirement
This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to 10-25%.
