About this opportunity
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will focus payroll preparation, ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, liaising with the corporate payroll team for efficient payroll processing & employee benefits administration, This role will provide support and guidance to managers and employees relating to payroll, benefits and pension related matters.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of payroll practices.
When your actions lead to success:
Payroll
  • Prepare weekly payroll for hourly & salaried employees for multiple payroll groups & Business Units
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, deductions, premiums and overtime.
  • Verify employee timesheets making necessary changes as related to averaging hours rules
  • Conduct timesheet audits to identify discrepancies & make necessary adjustments
  • Communicate with managers to resolve any timesheet-related questions or discrepancies before payroll submission
  • Conduct payroll reconciliation per internal protocol
  • Collaborate with the corporate payroll team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing & support with any inquiries, providing necessary documentation as needed
  • Follow internal process to update & maintain meticulous records of payroll changes, adjustments, and employee information
  • Support & maintain all Employee profiles (new hires, changes & terminations) on HR related systems & databases (PeopleSoft, Kronos, Mr. Safety Shoes etc.)
  • Assist in implementing and communicating payroll policies and procedures
  • Support & audit Vacation Management Tracker for Salaried staff, Work with managers to ensure vacation request are up-to-date
  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks (T4s, Vacation & banked hours payouts, increases, bonuses, profit sharing etc.)

Benefits Administration:
  • Provide support in administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, STD/LTD and pension plans
  • Liaise with Benefits Claims adjudicator on updates related to STD/LTD & Leave claims, keeping HR & Managers updated on status’ & RTW plans
  • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and enrollment processes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of benefits offerings
  • Provide guidance to employees on benefits options, enrollment processes, and eligibility requirements
  • Generate and analyze payroll and benefits reports for management
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll and benefits
  • Handle confidential employee information with discretion and integrity
  • Develop SOPs and guides for internal training purposes
  • Work as part of the HR team, follow and adhere to Transcontinental’s code of ethics and participate in the Continuous Improvements efforts
  • Additional duties as assigned




When your expertise drives us
  • Post Secondary Education in Payroll/Accounting or related experience
  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years’ experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset!
  • Experience with HR platforms such as PeopleSoft & Kronos is an asset!
  • Experience with Payroll preparation for hourly groups within various shift structures, pay rules and shift premiums
  • PCP designation is an asset
  • Excellent Organizational and priority setting skills a must;
  • Strong communication (written/verbal), facilitation and presentation skills
  • Good decision-making skills and ability to take initiatives;
  • Ability to understand business requirements and work with minimal supervision.
