BGIS is currently seeking a Program Manager- Data Controls Center Engineer to join the team in Phoenix, AZ.

The Program Manager - Data Center Controls Engineer supports client operations with the day-to-day coordination and implementations of activities pertaining to the uptime and reliability provided with BGIS contracted colocations within a specified region. The role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the control systems and monitoring equipment that ensure the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure. The position and expertise provided plays a crucial role in maintaining uptime and operational excellence. The Program Manager - Data Center Controls Engineer provides leadership to others positively exemplifying BGIS values.


RESPONSIBILITIES



Operational Excellence and Uptime

  • Key focus areas on System Monitoring, Maintenance & Troubleshooting, and Configuration & Calibration:

    • System Monitoring: Continuously monitor data center systems, including HVAC, power distribution, and environmental controls, using advanced monitoring tools.

    • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform systems analyses of maintenance and control systems. Quickly diagnose and resolve issues to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.

    • Configuration and Calibration: Configure and calibrate control systems to meet operational standards and performance benchmarks.

  • Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
  • Design, test, implement and manage various data center reporting and operation management systems, to interface with client and reporting tools.

Program Management

  • Data Analysis: Analyze system performance data to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement. Prepare reports to communicate findings and recommendations to both client and internal leadership.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all operations comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and incident reports. Document changes and updates to control systems.
  • Complete assigned projects in a timely manner by utilizing appropriate resources effectively and balancing the client requirements with the agreed upon strategies of the company.
  • Provide ongoing updates to internal team and customers regarding project status and progress.
  • Capture all customer impacting and non-customer impacting events to become more equipped for proactive and preventative activities.
  • Diagnose and problem solve for needed repairs or process improvements.

Client Focus/Communications

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the facilities management, local sites and network teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, system upgrades, and emergency response efforts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and technologies related to data center operations. Propose enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Deliver high client and team member satisfaction while maintaining profitability.
  • Document, manage and appropriately escalate project and client issues and concerns.
  • Explain technical information clearly both internally and externally to the customer.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Automation, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a technical role involving controls and monitoring systems, preferably in a data center or critical infrastructure environment.
  • Proficiency in control systems (BMS, HVAC, power management), networking protocols, and monitoring software. Familiarity with OSI PI systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical one-lines.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook and an emphasis on Excel.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, Electrical) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical and mechanical Data Center operations

  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Extensive walking required on client site locations with uneven surfaces.
  • Current valid driver's license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office with reimbursement.
