The UI Heart and Vascular Center is seeking a full-time (100%) Patient Care Technician t to support our Cardiovascular Pre- and Post-Recovery Unit (CPRU). Under direct supervision, this position will work closely with Physician, Nursing, and Imaging Technologist staff assisting in multiple types of patient care and related tasks optimizing efficiency primarily in the Cardiovascular Procedure Recovery Unit (CPRU). This position may float to our procedural labs based on need.

Assists with lab preparation including stocking supplies and set up.
Assists in the management of daily deliveries of stores items to the procedural labs by putting items away and notifying nursing staff of items on backorder that are not received
Performs quality controls on glucometer and maintains supplies to comply with regulatory guidelines. Perform blood glucose testing on patients as delegated.
Assists with checking outdates on supplies as delegated.
Assists with completing requisitions and other forms as directed. Can include preventative maintenance monitoring of equipment in the lab.
Shares responsibility for preparation, proper use and care of equipment and supplies and for neatness and cleanliness of the lab.
Assists with procedural preparation including surgical clipping of appropriate skin areas
Sets up and connects noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment to patient
Reports pertinent patient information and incidents to person in charge.
Assists in answering call lights and telephones.
Transports patients by bed, cart, or wheelchair between recovery units, procedural labs, and inpatient units.
Assists with lab turnover cleaning duties as delegated.
Performs basic CPR as required.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Other duties as assigned.
Assumes responsibility for on-going self-learning and maintenance of clinical skills, analyzing own performance and set goals.

Ability to collect patient data and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of keyboarding and computer data entry skills.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
Desired Qualifications:
Certification as a Nursing Assistant is preferred.
Direct patient-care experience.
Experience working in a health care environment.
Strong communication skills.
Experience providing customer service relations.
Strong organizational skills.
