Job Summary



The Associate Director, Lab Projects and Analytics will serve as project manager for Professor Dan Adelman's Healthcare Analytics Lab, including courses, research studies, and software development, implementation, and validation projects. The Healthcare Analytics Lab (HAL) brings research into the classroom in order to transform healthcare with new analytic approaches. In this position, the Lab Manager will ensure that HAL research staff and collaborators have the data and IT infrastructure necessary to pursue their innovative curricula, healthcare research, and analytical tool development and implementation. The Associate Director will be the primary liaison with IT services and vendors that build and support the lab's data environments. This role will also support the lab's new strategic priority to scale research impact by developing user-focused applications for both teaching and supporting healthcare operations.



Responsibilities



  • Serves as liaison between HAL and IT staff at Booth, the University, and partner organizations, including managing support requests, contributing to requirements documentation, coordinating meetings, and discussing procedures and outcomes.

  • Assists in onboarding new students, research assistants and lab collaborators to the HAL secure data environment.

  • Supports external constituents (may include students and faculty at other universities and health systems) in the access and use of lab materials.

  • Assists in recruitment needs for the HAL, as needed.

  • Develops and supports data security structures and processes and assists in maintaining lab compliance records.

  • Coordinates vendor relationships and contracting processes.

  • Develops and manages project plans, with input from key stakeholders, including IT, contracting, research and administrative staff.

  • Coordinates data intake process.

  • Coordinates course set-up process for Prof. Adelman's data-intensive healthcare courses.

  • Provides course assistance as requested, answering student questions, troubleshooting, and ensuring timely resolution of access and other technical issues.

  • Uses subject matter and best practices knowledge to perform lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Works independently to assist with project design.

  • Guides data collection, evaluation and analysis. Designs and manages databases. Writes reports, articles and manuscripts.

  • Performs other related work as needed.




Minimum Qualifications




Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Experience:



  • Managing IT projects; general knowledge of networking, public-facing web services, authentication, and IT security.




Technical Skills or Knowledge:



  • Knowledge of healthcare data interoperability, HIPAA regulations, and healthcare data security.

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, as well as organizational skills.

  • Work independently with little supervision; possess a self-motivated disposition; identify opportunities for improvement and recommend effective changes, all while achieving key objectives resulting in desired outcomes.

  • Handle multiple detailed tasks/projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines with frequent interruptions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods i.e., in person, email, phone.

  • Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.




Working Conditions



  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.

  • Travel between Hyde Park and downtown campus to support courses and lab.
