Job Description:

Foxfield Racing LLC, a 501 c3, seeks an Executive Director to lead the non-profit organization as it works to conserve the Foxfield property and the races, host steeplechase race events twice a year, and welcome the community in inclusive ways.

The Executive Director is responsible for fundraising, sponsorship, financial, and event management. The Executive Director will work with the Foxfield Board under a renewed focus and a strategic vision for the future. Throughout the year, the Executive Director is responsible for sponsorship recruitment and relations, while preparing for the spring race (typically welcoming about 13,000 attendees) and the fall race (typically welcoming about 5,000 attendees). The ideal candidate will be energetic and organized with a passion for financially driving a non-profit organization forward.

Foxfield emerged in 2020 with a renewed mission and was supported by enthusiastic community members to execute a positive change in the community. The executive director will continue this positive growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Leadership & Strategy:
  • Provide visionary and strategic leadership, ensuring that the organization achieves its goals while remaining mission-focused and responsive to the needs of the community.
  • Work with the Board of Directors to implement the organization's strategic plan.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and growth.

Event Development & Management:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of events and programs that align with the organization's mission.
  • Ensure that events are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed expectations.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed.

Fundraising & Development:
  • Execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure diverse revenue streams, including grants, donations, and sponsorships (Founders Circle and Foxfield 500).
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee grant writing, reporting, and donor communications.

Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the organization's budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
  • Oversee financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and compliance.
  • With the treasurer, provide regular financial updates to the Board of Directors.

Board Relations:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support the Board in governance, committee meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
  • Work with the Board to set organizational policies and procedures.

Staff & Volunteer Management:
  • Supervise and evaluate three staff members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, and management, ensuring volunteers are effectively utilized and appreciated.

Communications & Public Relations:
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing it at events, in the media, and within the community.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and experience with business or Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a business setting, with a track record of success in fundraising, program development, and financial management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in event planning and management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Knowledge of the local community and its philanthropic landscape.
  • Experience with equestrian activities.
