DSW Homes is seeking an experienced, reliable and results-oriented Purchase Specialist to augment its growing company. The Purchase Specialist reports to the Corporate Services Manager. Candidate should be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to multi-task with advanced problem-solving techniques, proficient in communication skills with timely follow up, uphold high value for customer service relationships and exemplify integrity, passion, and professionalism. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the balance between quality and cost in all aspects of the company. This role requires strong attention to detail and complete confidentiality.
Essential Functions including but not limited to:
Generate leads for new subcontractors and suppliers (vendors) through cold calls, scouting construction sites, visiting suppliers, etc.
Use discretion and independent judgment to negotiate pricing and rebate agreements with vendors
Compare market rates and company rates against existing vendor pricing
Negotiate pricing & bulk material orders as needed
Set up new vendors in the company's accounting and job management systems
Facilitate a smooth handoff of new vendors from the purchasing department to the field office(s)
Provide general support to the purchasing department as needed
Education and Skill Requirements:
Effective negotiating skills
Strong communicator
Must have knowledge of residential construction practices and methods
Demonstrated computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business or a Construction related field
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred 2 years of experience in purchasing, operations or estimating
Ability to read blueprints is a plus
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
