Detailed Job Description
The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) welcomes applicants for a teaching faculty position in Neuroscience to begin in the fall of 2025. Our successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to building and shaping our growing, interdisciplinary Neuroscience BS program. Key responsibilities will include planning and teaching undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses.

We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in neuroscience, neurobiology, or a related field with broad knowledge of neuroscience topics and tools. Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellent skills in undergraduate teaching, including research-based strategies and inclusive practices. The position requires a strong commitment to teaching. The candidate should expect to develop, support and teach a variety of courses including introductory neuroscience courses and neurobiology electives. Courses may include Neurobiology, Experimental Lab Methods in Neuroscience, Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience, Animal Vision, Imaging in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Tissue Culture Laboratory.

Department/College Description
The Department
The Integrated Sciences Academy (ISA) is an academic department in the College of Science that is home to multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary academic and research programs. ISA hosts Neuroscience BS (in partnership with the Department of Psychology), Color Science MS and PhD programs, and interdisciplinary minors, and is a partner in the Cognitive Science PhD program. Faculty in the ISA enjoy a friendly, innovative environment and often work collaboratively across department and college boundaries.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, or a related field at the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated excellent teaching skills and strong interest in undergraduate teaching
  • Ability to effectively work with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college's continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
