Job Description:

We are working with a very exciting, fast-growing company specializing in solar electric propulsion systems and space exploration satellites. Having secured multiple propulsion module and satellite contracts, they are seeking an AI&T lead to support the design and manufacture of all spacecraft hardware.

The Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) Manager is a crucial member of the Production Operations management team, responsible for overseeing people and projects to ensure completion according to customer specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical, business, and leadership skills, along with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, customers, and partners. Experience with all aspects of spacecraft manufacturing and testing is highly desired.

Responsibilities and Duties

Overview

As the AI&T Manager, you will oversee the system-level integration and assembly of a spacecraft throughout the entire program lifecycle, managing team activities and schedules. You will design the functional AI&T program and lead a team responsible for developing travelers, test plans, procedures, and test execution.

  • Manage spacecraft hardware by coordinating AI&T tasks, planning daily and weekly activities across all stakeholders, including your team, program management, system and sub-system engineers, technicians, and quality assurance.

Management & Work Environment

  • Work in a team environment with the ability to rapidly adjust to changing priorities.
  • Serve as the Staff Manager of the production and test team; lead the team and mentor other manufacturing and test team stakeholders; provide training and mentorship to manufacturing and test engineers, and offer reviews and feedback on documentation; assist with staffing to meet company priorities.
  • Ensure the production and test area and personnel are fully trained and adhering to customer and QMS requirements for quality, inspections, FOD, ESD, and specific handling of space hardware.

What you will be doing:

  • Identify and acquire test equipment to meet testing needs.
  • Author, review, update, and implement integration travelers and test plans.
  • Collaborate with systems and design engineering to support verification planning and testing.
  • Prepare and/or support SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and MRR presentations to customers.
  • Interface and coordinate with customers and suppliers for program, design, and peer reviews.
  • Provide ongoing inputs on the scope of work, schedule, and cost to program management, including staffing forecasts and labor hours, and other direct costs for executing activities.
  • Provide technical oversight and support to teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Define EGSE and MGSE necessary to support programs; help design and implement EGSE and MGSE for program support.
  • Lead safety efforts for the shop and facility, ensuring proper measures are in place for PPE, procedures, and travelers. Ensure all operations are performed on time, safely, and professionally. Participate in process/job hazard assessments/test readiness reviews.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and supply chain organizations to ensure successful program logistics execution; support MAKE/BUY decisions and vendor selection.
  • Oversee build and flow development and identify manufacturing development needs.
  • Identify and implement tooling and facility needs to meet customer handling and quality requirements.
  • Conduct DFM reviews of hardware.
  • Support EIDP creation.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 7-15 years of experience in a production or testing-related environment.
  • Experience with aerospace or similar systems of rigor.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and testing.
  • Experience with AS9100 processes and certification.
  • US Citizen.

Highly desirable Skills

  • Experience with aerospace testing.
  • Experience with spacecraft fabrication and testing.
  • Experience with non-conformance resolution.

Schedule

  • 8-hour shift.
  • Monday to Friday.
  • Overtime as needed.
