Focus:
Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable, to ensure accuracy, compliance, and transparency.
Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
Manage and supervise accounting staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and productivity.
Coordinate and manage audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting standards.
Oversee grants management activities, including tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant guidelines and funding requirements.
Collaborate with executive leadership and program managers to develop and monitor budgets, financial forecasts, and grant proposals to support organizational objectives.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to inform decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
Serve as a liaison with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and funding partners to address financial inquiries and ensure adherence to reporting requirements.
Skill Set:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within a nonprofit organization.
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and best practices.
Proven experience in managing audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Extensive experience in grants management, including tracking, reporting, and compliance.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, with a proven track record of effectively managing teams and building collaborative relationships.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
