About the role:

Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced Project Manager (Civil) with deep expertise in environmental permitting. This role requires strong leadership skills, a solid background in civil engineering, and significant experience in navigating environmental regulations and obtaining permits. The successful candidate will manage complex projects that intersect with environmental laws, ensuring compliance and project success from inception to completion.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and manage the delivery of heavy civil infrastructure projects (water treatment plants, and utilities) with a focus on environmental compliance and permitting.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring the project stays on schedule and within budgetary constraints.
  • Oversee environmental permitting processes, including obtaining necessary permits for air, water, wetlands, and waste management in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, engineers, and legal experts to ensure timely and accurate permit submissions and approvals.
  • Mitigate environmental risks by identifying potential impacts early in the project lifecycle and integrating sustainable, eco-friendly practices in project designs and execution.
  • Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary teams, including civil engineers, and construction teams, to achieve project goals.
  • Maintain open communication with clients, ensuring project updates, risks, and environmental considerations are clearly communicated.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure environmental and safety standards are being met during construction phases.
  • Ensure projects adhere to sustainable development principles, optimizing resources and minimizing environmental impact.

Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability practices, including knowledge of LEED, environmental impact assessments, and waste management strategies.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes (e.g., NEPA, Clean Water Act, and other federal, state, and local regulations).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

Qualifications & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in project management within the civil/environmental engineering sector.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or relevant environmental certifications (preferred).
