Job Description:

The Child Abuse Prevention Educator for Juliette's House will help carry out our Elementary prevention education efforts. They will do this by coordinating, promoting and facilitating prevention curriculum to schools, parents, partners, and youth serving organizations. Promotion includes advertising the training as a resource and opportunity through email, flyers, and community meetings. Coordinating includes connecting with potential schools and community partners to assess their training needs, following up with clients, scheduling training, and facilitating these workshops. The Child Abuse Prevention Educator will also support other Prevention Education efforts with team members, participate in trainings, in-service workshops, peer evaluations.

Duties:
  • Facilitate, schedule and promote both Pre-k and K-5 Prevention Programs (Pre-K Curriculum: Laurens Kids - Safer Smarter Kids, K-5 Curriculum: Monique Burr - Child Safety Matters)
  • Build and maintain community relationships.
  • Communicate clearly with all partnering agencies and other professionals in the community.
  • Collaborate and maintain positive and productive working relationships with fellow Prevention Team members, Clinical Service Team members, administrative staff, community organizations, schools and other community partners.
  • Ability to participate within small or large teams on committees/subgroups to accomplish large goals over an extended time frame.
  • Assess community needs as related to child abuse education prevention.
  • Assess program efficacy and efficiency on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain a professional manner meeting strict confidentiality requirements.
  • Promote prevention awareness and engagement with the community - includes the promotion of all of JH's child abuse prevention programs, and others as developed.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Demonstrated Abilities and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: social work, counseling, psychology, sociology, child development or related field
  • One (1) year experience working with children and families.
  • Experience with public speaking and presenting in front of large groups, strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suit (Excel, Word, outlook, etc.)
  • Valid Oregon driver's license
