TYPE: Direct Hire

LOCATION: Carson City, NV (Greater Reno area)

SALARY: 180k - 190k

TRAVEL: Once a month to the Connecticut location required

RELOCATION: Assistance is available

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Director of Engineering for a leading aerospace fastener manufacturing company. Our client is looking for someone looking to grow their career as the right-hand person to the VP. This role focuses on driving engineering excellence and innovation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating across departments to streamline operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, including engineers, project managers, and support staff.
  • Define clear goals and performance metrics for the engineering team.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering culture within the department.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and market demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of new aerospace fastener products.
  • Ensure engineering designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the integration of new technologies and innovations into product development processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, and other departments to ensure smooth product development and production.
  • Serve as the engineering point of contact for customer inquiries, technical support, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure engineering practices adhere to aerospace industry standards, including AS9100 and other relevant certifications.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain high product standards.
  • Address and resolve engineering-related issues and non-conformities.
  • Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, including staffing, equipment, and project expenditures.
  • Allocate resources efficiently and effectively to meet project and departmental goals.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in aerospace fastener manufacturing.
  • Promote and drive innovation within the engineering team to enhance product performance and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on engineering activities, project status, and key performance indicators to senior management.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
  • Report all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor immediately.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, and be detail-oriented.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or related field). A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in an engineering leadership role within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace fastener technologies and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with AS9100 or other aerospace certifications.
  • The ability to model a positive attitude, actively listen, communicate respectfully, and execute tasks efficiently.
