Hamilton Porter has teamed up with an engineering firm providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering servicing in support of their clients spanning between owners, architects, and contractors. Expect to support the design of commercial buildings ranging from aviation, higher education, health care, hospitality, entertainment, or governmental facilities.
Responsibilities
Determine the scope of assigned projects and utilize software programs to create the mechanical engineering designs including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, or other mechanical systems
Determine cost-effective system layouts, quantities/sizes, and specifications, and verify code compliance of the system designs
Preparation and layout of BIM drawings and coordination with all other disciplines at all phases of project production, including schematic design phase, design development phase, permitting phase, and construction documents phase
Perform construction administration tasks including, but not limited to, site observations, shop drawing review, and preparation of punch lists
Define appropriate project scope and ensure it is accurately reflected in the contract documents; proactively manage any possible scope of work variances to ensure client satisfaction and that projects stay on track
Maintain excellent business relationships and communication with clients, partners, architects, owners, other design and construction professionals, and various code officials regarding the overall engineering project, associated assignments, and action items
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or (EIT)
4+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering for commercial buildings
At least 2 years of experience coordinating with multi-discipline engineering teams
Experience with a variety of project deliverable methods including design-build, design-bid-construct, fast-track and other construction delivery methods
Knowledge of local, state, and national codes, including other aspects of laws, regulations, and potential liabilities affecting the practice of engineering
Revit MEP proficiency required, and familiarity with other engineering software programs such as AutoCAD
Highly proficient technical/computer skills including Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Work, Excel), internet and web applications
Organized, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, and sound problem-solving skills
Able to manage and mentor other Engineers
