The National Alliance for Caregiving ("NAC") is a national systems change nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for family caregivers to ensure they are valued and supported. We champion the health, wealth, and equity of the 53 million family caregivers in the US through research, policy and advocacy, and programmatic initiatives. Our work is guided by an authentic and passionate commitment to caregivers that is empathetic, data-driven, collaborative, and inclusive.

NAC is a $3 million+ organization experiencing rapid growth, with an annual goal of contributed and sponsorship funds of at least $2.5 million, and membership revenues of at least $1 million.

Position Overview

The Senior Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations is a key member of our team responsible for developing and maintaining corporate and foundation relationships to support NAC's mission and impact. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is crucial in driving our financial health and expanding our capacity to execute funded projects. Primary responsibilities include securing new sponsorships, renewing current grant funding, and building existing relationships with corporate members and foundations to expand NAC's funding base. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader capable of implementing innovative strategies to grow our membership base, increase grant and sponsorship income, and strengthen our partnerships.

This position can be remote or DC-based.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Growth and Retention
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Corporate/Member Relations program to enhance the value of membership in NAC.
  • Implement and refine strategies for new member recruitment, supporting the CEO in member recruitment efforts.
  • Oversee the annual dues renewal process, including invoice distribution and online portal submissions.
  • Maintain and optimize our member and donor/funder database in partnership with Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate the development of compelling membership recruitment and renewal materials.

Grant and Sponsorship Development
  • Secure new sponsorship underwriting by identifying and qualifying prospects, establishing connections, and soliciting support.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for developing funding proposals.
  • Develop strong grant and sponsorship proposals in collaboration with staff and leadership.
  • Support the development of grant budgets.
  • Manage grant and sponsorship submissions, agreements, and required documentation.
  • Establish and oversee a grant reporting calendar.
  • Lead donor relations efforts, including acknowledgment protocols and ongoing communication.
  • Support the annual Board Appeal Campaign.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant corporate, philanthropic or membership environment
  • Proven track record in corporate or member relations, membership recruitment, grant management, funding solicitation, and/or donor management
  • Experience working with sponsorships or corporate gifts over $10,000
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated capabilities in delivering compelling presentations and funding proposals
  • Self-starter able to work in and support a team environment
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Competent, creative and confident professional
  • Detail-oriented with a successful record of following up on opportunities and funding leads
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge, iMIS)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with Microsoft Teams is a plus

Compensation
  • This position pays $100,000 to $105,000 annually, depending on experience.

Benefits

NAC currently offers these benefits:

Annual compensation package paid bi-weekly in accordance with NAC payroll practices. Compensation reviewed annually and evaluated based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to NAC funding, performance, and comparable national and local market rates (available through published databases) for the position.

Health, vision, and dental insurance. Health and vision insurance for DC-based NAC employees is offered through Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic; remote employees currently receive health benefits through their state insurance networks. NAC pays 85% of every covered employee's monthly premium regardless of their work location, with employees responsible for 15% of their premium. Dental insurance is offered through Guardian Dental; employees are expected to make a monthly contribution of $10.00. All benefit plans are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Life, short-term and long-term disability insurance. NAC provides its employees a fully paid package of life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance

Flexible Spending Account. NAC currently offers its employees the option of enrolling in a flexible spending account for health-related purchases and/or dependent care.

TIAA-CREF 403(b) Retirement. NAC provides quarterly contributions to a 403(b) retirement plan, at 10% of worked earnings. While not required, NAC encourages its employees to make their own contributions to the retirement plan.

Flexible Time, Telework, and Timesheets. Washington DC-based staff work on a hybrid schedule of remote and office-based work.
  • All staff who are remote or who work on the DC hybrid schedule of remote and office-based work are expected to sign a tele-commuting agreement on their first day of employment.
  • Weekly schedules are developed in tandem with your supervisor. Employees are expected to be available to NAC staff and partners during core office hours (10a to 4p).
  • Staff are expected to complete daily timesheets through an electronic platform. Completing timesheets helps NAC align compensation to the appropriate grants, sponsorships and contracts underwriting positions, and calculate bi-weekly paychecks and retirement contributions.

Annual Paid Time Off. For full-time employees, NAC offers 15 days (3 business weeks) of paid time off (PTO) annually, accrued bi-weekly at 4.62 hours per paycheck; vacation time is prorated to start date. In addition to paid time off, NAC offers 5 paid sick days annually; sick leave is prorated to employment start date. NAC follows a schedule of paid federal holidays and offers a fully paid winter holiday (office closure between 12/24 and 1/1 of the following year).

Caregiving Support and Specialized Leave. In addition to Annual PTO, NAC aims to be a caregiver-friendly workplace which recognizes the importance of balancing work and life. To further this aim, NAC offers multiple types of paid leave related to family and medical needs, such as partially paid family and medical leave, bereavement leave, and other types of workplace accommodations. These benefits are subject to state and local laws.

Career Development. Staff receive complimentary membership in an organization/association of their choosing - to be aligned with the work performed for NAC. NAC also pays for and provides additional training that can further employees' success in their role, subject to budgetary restrictions and as agreed upon between staff and their supervisor.

Cell Phone and Computer. NAC expects all staff to utilize their cell phone while working for us; staff are also expected to utilize their home internet services for NAC work when based remotely. NAC provides a monthly stipend of $50.00 towards the cost of cell phone and internet services. All staff are provided with a laptop computer and if they desire, a monitor; remote employees are provided with printers at their request.
