Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY/Primary Objective: The General Manager job function is to ensure the overall smooth operation of the park, including Admission, Animals, Education, Special Events. He/she is responsible for overseeing, coordinate and monitoring the department's daily activities. He/she will work closely with Jungle Island partners and vendors pertaining to daily operational needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Administers the budget for the departments he/she is overseeing including monitoring and approving budget expenditures and making revenue and expenditure adjustments to stay within budget: provides recommendations for the budget based on analysis of various park needs such as position allocation and equipment needs.
  • Interacting with and be knowledgeable of all park operations and departments, their needs, and monitoring each area's smooth function, assisting whenever necessary. Acts as a safety officer; ensures compliance with OSHA requirements; identifies safety concern and implements preventive measures.
  • Maintain First Aid stations throughout the park. Maintain Incident reports in chronological fashion for staff and public incidences,
  • Positively interact with group contacts from the travel industry, attractions associations, international travel markets, Chamber of Commerce, etc.
  • Assure proper set-up of designated area for each assigned department, ensure proper procedures are followed in program activities, both in regard to safety and program goals.
  • Overseeing all aspects of Jungle Island operations. Implementing and programming changes into ticketing systems to reflect special events, prices, annual passes, etc. Maintaining database. Sound Decibels - Measures sound for park events to ensure compliance with lease.
  • Invoices - Oversee procedure for invoices relating to the Operations department expenses.
  • Overall Guest Relations including implementation and monitoring of positive Guest Relations programs, staff training, and resolution of escalated guest issues.
  • Responsible for implementing effective emergency procedures and crisis management protocols.
  • Responsible for conducting daily operations meetings to inform all departments of the day's activities.
  • Acting as the "Control Center" for directions under special circumstances whether to close the park, etc.
  • Updating and implementing the park Emergency Preparedness plan as needed, in coordination with the other departments.
  • Ensure Jungle Island compliance with federal, state and local regulations that govern the operation of the facility.
  • Responsibilities include acting as the Manager on Duty, in conjunction with Partners, in order to ensure that all logistics concerning power, safety, security, and any other needs for special event are addressed promptly.
  • Manage vendors and partners and ensure timelines are achieved according to goals and projects.
  • Work closely with Sales & Marketing team.

LICENSE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or similar experience.
  • 5-10 years of related experience in the service and/or attractions industry.
  • Observant, highly flexible individual with a positive and creative outlook and a global view.
  • Good sound management and supervisory skills. Ability to analyze issues, make decisions and solve problems directly as they occur. Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities.
  • The General Manager must have good communication skills and be able to quickly respond and be a strong decision-maker for both the safety of their staff and the public.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
