This position is for a dedicated Instrumentation & Controls Superintendent with background in the large-scale industrial space.
DAY TO DAY • The I&C superintendent will assure the highest level of safety, productivity, work quality, reliability, & completion for all instrumentation & controls installations. • 70% in the field, 30% in the office • Plan and coordinate the work activities of all involved subcontractors (10-15) for assigned construction scopes in alignment with available engineering deliverables, tools, construction equipment, and materials. • Successfully deliver large, design build, and self-performed construction projects • Define installation execution plan and sequences required for Equipment install (PLC & PSP panels, cable tray, conduit & cable routing, wire pull and installation of any field instruments within scope. • Employ a can-do attitude, working through challenges with all stakeholders • Direct work in field, track changes, etc. both individually and leading or participating in a larger team • Ensure installation meets end users' requirements and quality expectations • Find creative solutions to challenging problems, removing barriers to hitting deadlines • Drive & Review closure of all I&C Construction Checklists and Issues. • Schedule and lead quality control (QC/QA) and site I&C inspections. • Participate in engineering design reviews and provide constructability input • Oversee all activities with a driven focus on change management and project controls elements • Play an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety a natural part of all work performed, by reviewing subcontractor PTP (Pre-Task Plans) and MOP's (methods of procedure). • Understand Sequences of Operation (SOO) and how systems are designed to operate. • Understand control system performance needs and various operations sequences and scenarios • Manage construction equipment as required, including planning, monitoring, and controlling such as needed to assure safe and efficient construction execution • Review & closeout all I&C Scopes, includes working with design engineers, keeping record of as-builts & managing change, writing RFI's, & supporting commissioning team in system turnovers
MUST HAVES • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation skills are a must • Associate's Degree or Trade School experience with 5-10 years experience OR 10 to 15 years of experience • Strong Industrial or Construction or Engineering background in Controls (oil & gas ok) • Ability to read, interpret, and manage changes to: • Instrumentation design packages • Panel locations & layout drawings • Controls Schedules, PLC Termination Schedules, & Wiring detail drawings • Cable tray/Wireway/raceway and conduit installations. • Network Topology & Layout drawings. • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam and scheduling software (P6 Or MS Project) • Willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and to get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals. • OSHA 10 (preferred OSHA 30)
