Job Description:

Scope of Responsibility: The position of Director of Residential Lending will be responsible for developing and managing a staff of Mortgage Loan Officers. In addition to the management responsibilities, the VPRL must cultivate quality business relationships and a referral network of realtors, closing attorneys, appraisers and builders to promote the residential lending program while simultaneously supporting the same efforts of the MLO's employed by the Bank. They should also be able to meet aggressive production, profitability, growth and service goals, while ensuring each portfolio maintains strong credit quality.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, develop and support a team of Mortgage Loan Officers, providing guidance, support, training and referrals within the Bank's identified market area.
  • Responsible for accountability measures of the Mortgage Department as it relates to personal and MLO's loan growth and productivity objectives.
  • Interviews applicants and analyzes customer's financial status and earnings to determine the most appropriate mortgage loan options. Analyzes complex personal, partnership, and corporate tax returns, including attached schedules.
  • Makes preliminary determination of applicant's creditworthiness and has authority to issue prequalification statement of borrower's eligibility.
  • Calls on prospective customers, realtors, and builders to establish relationships for loan referrals.
  • Provides advice and service to applicants requesting mortgage loan information.
  • Represents the bank in the community and at real estate industry functions to identify, develop and promote additional business.
  • Presents seminars and training to general public and to real estate agents to promote additional business and community outreach. Answer questions in open forum setting with same audience.
  • Provides support of interim and long-term financing for new construction projects of 1-4 family dwelling with branch managers throughout the bank.
  • Maintains awareness of trends and developments in the local and national real estate market in order to provide feedback to management.
  • Advises management of new products offered in the market to ensure the bank remains competitive.
  • Cross-sells other bank products, such as consumer and commercial loans, consumer and business deposit accounts.
  • Ensures lending compliance with all origination procedures including bank and/or regulatory procedures, policies and/or requirements. Follows existing lending procedures and makes suggestions for improvement to procedures.
  • Actively participate in community service activities and/or volunteer to promote our mission, generate visibility, and serve our local community.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Contacts & Relationships: The individual in this position will work closely with Mortgage Loan Officers, bank customers, credit and loan department personnel, and the Chief Lending Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of banking industry experience;
  • Proficient in commercial loan structure and global analysis;
  • Thorough understanding of financial statement analysis and credit underwriting;
  • Knowledge of State & Federal banking/lending regulations;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
