Position Overview for the Youth Engagement Specialist:
Serve as a community outreach liaison for the Zero Fare for Youth program.
Research and create a 14-month community outreach calendar in partnership with Community Engagement Team, and in close partnership with staff in the Communications and Engagement, Civil Rights, Planning, Human Resources, and Government Relations.
Use multiple communication channels (e.g., phone, email, in-person meetings, etc.) to coordinate with key external partners (e.g., academic institutions, youth-serving organizations, recreation centers, and libraries) to discern outreach activities that would be beneficial to attend and/or share partner toolkits.
Assists the Manager of Community Engagement with routine and special engagement projects.
Attend community partner outreach activities and/or hosted events throughout the service area.
Support the delivery of youth-focused presentations at community events.
Enter information and data into Outreach Tracker
Compile comprehensive records documenting all outreach activities and metrics
Produce a monthly report of outreach activities
Required Skills for the Youth Engagement Specialist:
Strong public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to travel throughout the Denver Metro area.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes attending events and meetings that occur in early morning and evening hours, as well as some weekends
Ability to build coalitions, foster local and regional partnerships, and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of audiences.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and the ability to write clear, concise, factual content in an understandable manner with various audiences in mind.
Ability to efficiently manage time and workload, which includes proactively planning, prioritizing, organizing, and following-through on multiple assignments.
Ability to use sound judgment and maintain the strictest of confidentiality.
Proficiency in event planning that includes event logistics and scheduling techniques.
Ability to assess and sensitively serve the needs of low-income communities, communities of color, communities of people with disabilities, and limited English proficiency customers.
