A client of Insight Global is looking for a Materials Buyer to join their team out of Fort Walton Beach, FL. The role of a Material Buyer involves maintaining the continuity of supplies to manufacturing operations and supporting the company's supply chain by procuring cost-efficient and quality materials.
Key job responsibilities include:
1. Negotiating best value with suppliers: Material Buyers are responsible for negotiating the best prices and delivery terms with suppliers. They perform materials quotation to determine the most favorable options for procurement.
2. Timely and cost-effective procurement: Material Buyers procure products within assigned commodity areas in a timely and cost-effective manner. They ensure that materials are obtained on time to support manufacturing operations.
3. Reducing lead times: Material Buyers work on identifying and reducing long lead times in the system. They collaborate with suppliers to develop material strategies that help minimize delays in the procurement process.
4. Monitoring and taking appropriate action: Material Buyers review MRP (Material Requirements Planning) exceptions, purchase order status, and order action reports. They take appropriate action, such as expediting orders or resolving any issues that may impact the procurement process. 5. Identifying and resolving issues: Material Buyers ascertain when and where to buy goods and services, resolve material price variances, and identify alternate solutions for obsolete components. They work closely with engineering teams to ensure approval for any proposed alternate solutions. 6. Ensuring timely delivery: Material Buyers prioritize timely delivery of products to support manufacturing operations. They monitor delivery schedules and work proactively to address any potential delays.
