Job Description:

General Summary:

The Business Unit Representative, Quality Management System is responsible for the development and execution of all activities within their respective Business Unit related to the Quality Management System (QMS).Provides strategic and tactical guidance in development of HACI's Quality Management System (QMS) including identification/resolution of business practice concerns, assuring compliance to AS9100, assuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, conducting internal audits, driving continuous improvements, and fostering a culture of quality excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develops the Business Unit Quality Management System (QMS) by integrating requirements for improvements from internal sources such as AS9100 compliance audits, risk assessments, and regular PDCA, as well as external sources such as FAA government audits and external AS9100 compliance audits.
  2. Oversees Business Unit QMS to ensure compliance to Honda quality standards and government regulations.
  3. Build consensus within business unit to determine how to change business operations to drive quality initiatives and best practices. Advise, direct, and promote PDCA of Business Unit business plan and significant Business Unit characteristic change points to assure alignment of customer requirements to department strategies.
  4. Collaborates with cross functional teams to establish and monitor quality objectives, lead root cause analysis investigations, and contribute to the overall quality strategy of the organization.
  5. Champion a culture of quality excellence throughout the Business Unit.
  6. Provides technical leadership to department staff by developing, supporting and coaching members on the QMS.
  7. Develop clear standards and procedures while ensuring team conformance to those standards and procedures.
  8. Proactively identify risks and opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
  9. Support internal and external audits to ensure compliance with government regulations and HACI's Quality Management System.
  10. Negotiate with auditors on technical merits of C/M ideas.
  11. Create analysis reports.
  12. Lead and direct departments to investigate/resolve non-conformities.
  13. Review and confirm effective countermeasures for audit results.
  14. Develops and facilitates process improvements and resolves problems and issues.
  15. Develops budget plans for assigned project scope.
  16. Leverage the data analytics and technology to optimize the quality processes, systems, and tools in the region. Promote the adoption and integration of the digital solutions and platforms to enhance the quality efficiency and effectiveness. Reports to the Honda Aircraft Quality Management Representative the quality status of the Business Unit.
  17. Some travel may be required both domestic and internationally.


Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:

BA/BS degree with a minimum of 12 years' experience in a technical field; PhD or MA/MS degree with a minimum of 8 years' experience in a technical field.

AS9100/ISO9000 quality system certification experience desirable.

Lean, Six Sigma or Black Belt certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge in the administration of qualitysystems for both internal and external customers.

Experience with risk management tools, such as FMEA and risk cubes.

Good organization and time management skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to present findings to team members, management and support personnel.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to use various tools and techniques.

Ability to independently generate presentations regarding dept activities and status, and present them to senior quality management, and development staff.

Interpersonal skills for interacting with project and task team members.

Strong priority skillset.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to work in a team environment, even when remote support is required.

Ability to deal with and manage change.

Ability to complete assigned responsibilities in a given timeframe within a given budget.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of the requirements of the AS9100/ISO 9000 framework.

Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9000 quality system standards and knowledge of general business management processes and related process controls.

Math and statistics skills as they apply to quality control and quality assurance. Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools.

Experience with data analytic tools, such as Excel, Tableau, SQL, Python, and Power BI

Knowledge of SPC, Lean and/or Six Sigma. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Manager or Six Sigma Black Belt.

Physical Requirements:
  1. Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  2. Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  4. Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  5. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  6. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
