The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on, results-oriented leader to oversee and optimize our operations at our headquarters in Columbia, SC. This strategic role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities including logistical operations, employee relations and engagement, finance, business strategy, and facility management. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional business acumen, operational expertise, and people management skills to drive operational excellence and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment. This is a key company position and will report directly to the CEO.

With the support of the warehouse management, customer service, and human resources teams, your role will be to lead and optimize our internal operations, from strategy development and financial management to human resources, and process improvement. You'll be at the helm of ensuring our business runs smoothly and efficiently while developing and implementing strategic initiatives to optimize profitability, growth, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the daily operations of the business ensuring that KPIs are met and we are exceeding our customers expectations on service and delivery performance.
  • Develop and execute departmental strategies to achieve operational excellence and support the company's strategic objectives.
  • Drive operational efficiency and effectiveness through continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team in strategy development.
  • Manage relationships with shipping providers including developing strategic shipping plans, negotiating rates and discounts, and brokering new partnerships.
  • Develop, maintain and implement the company SOPs.

Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Oversee the entire employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, development, separation, well-being, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Promote productivity and employee morale by providing a positive working environment and recognition for quality work.
  • Coordinates departmental activities to assure departments work together toward the achievement of goals by developing an information and communication system between departments which keeps the entire organization informed.
  • Communicate with staff to solve problems through the selection of appropriate communication techniques, staff meetings, counseling and coordination of written information.
  • Periodically evaluates staff morale and productivity while identifying and resolving potential issues.

Financial Management and Performance

  • Establish financial controls and checks and balances to keep facility operations within budget.
  • Present opportunities for financial strategies and optimization to the Leadership Team
  • Reconciles operational expenses

Administration

  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment for staff through the use of regular inspections, allocation of resources for facility maintenance.
  • Ensure company and staff adhere to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with government bodies like the FDA and OSHA
  • Oversee the company's 401k and benefits programs

Facility Management

  • Oversee facility repairs, maintenance and compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Manage the purchases of company equipment and machinery

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 5 years operational management experience of over 40 employees working in a high-volume small package shipping environment.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of best practices for all facets of warehouse logistics including warehouse design, stock storage, equipment and machinery, stock movement, freight logistics etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), preferably NetSuite.
  • High proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.

Salary: $95,000 - $100,000
