Job Description:

The primary function of this PM / Operations Manager position will be to drive the execution of key customer capital investment projects. This position will build and manage relationships of internal and external resources to effectively implement project initiatives that drive results, optimize value, and promote future growth.

This position will work directly with the Operations/Projects department and have occasional interactions with customer senior leadership employees.

The PM will manage and coordinate installation efforts through the project's execution phase.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead execution phase of assigned capital projects (Logistics, Material Storage and Handling, Installation Equipment Management, Subcontractor and Install Crew Management, Quality Inspection, Daily/Weekly Schedule Coordination)
  • Define daily and weekly productivity requirements, develop two-week schedule outlooks that align with overall project plan, tracking daily and weekly project spend.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the projects.
  • Review workload and manpower to meet customer commitments in a cost-effective manner.
  • Build strategic relationships with internal/external customers/suppliers to ensure continued alignment and success - before, during, and after project implementations.
  • Provide strong communication skills in diverse environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Outlines the tasks involved in the project using existing tools.
  • Oversight and management of subcontractors, including job site reviews, workmanship, punch list competition, and purchase orders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Assign duties or responsibilities to project personnel.
  • (Must have exceptional command of the required job skills and requirements.
  • Report project status, such as budget, resources, technical issues, or customer satisfaction, to managers.
  • Plan, schedule, or coordinate project activities to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Record information, such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports. Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess and utilize a good understanding of products and services.
  • Ability to use discretion and independent judgment to ensure processes and transactions are executed in the best interest of and Key Account customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
  • Employees are indirect reports through either sub-contractors or unions.

Travel:
  • This job requires frequent and extended travel (80%+)

Education and Experience:
  • Five years of project management discipline (or service management). Project Management experience is a must-have skill.
  • Previous experience and ownership of a profit center within the business (preferred)
  • Experience in managing others is required. Understanding of a union work environment is desired. Capital Engineering and certified project management credentials are a plus.
  • Dock and door industry experience is desired.
