G&E partners are partnered with a Heavy Civil GC located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania who are seeking a skilled Estimator to join their ranks and grow into a Chief Estimator role over time. The position has come into fruition after rapid growth.
Responsibilities:
Bid Preparation: Analyse project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work.
Gather and evaluate cost data from subcontractors, suppliers, and internal departments.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, and overhead.
Review and revise estimates as needed to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects.
Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and minimize cost overruns.
Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to negotiate favourable terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
Cost Control: Monitor project progress and compare actual costs to estimated costs.
Identify cost variances and implement corrective actions.
Proposal Development: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive proposals for clients, including technical information, pricing, and project schedules.
Qualifications:
A bachelors in civil engineering, construction or equivalent
10 years of estimating experience in the heavy civil construction industry.
Experience in Primavera, Heavy bid and HCSS.
Ability to meet deadlines and process projects quickly.
