Editorial Project Manager (Life Sciences Publishing)

About the Company

A leading healthcare education and exam prep company seeks an experienced Editorial Project Manager to oversee the timely and budget-conscious delivery of print, digital, and A/V products and associated supplements.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Oversee all stages of production, from unedited content to final release and archiving.
  • Conduct project evaluations, including assessing content needs, selecting samples for testing, and creating style sheets.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, considering author availability and potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with design, editing, and production teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain quality control throughout the production process, reviewing copyediting, design, and overall accuracy.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, quality, and cost to management.
  • Support departmental and company-wide initiatives related to content quality and consistency.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a textbook and supplements production editor, preferably in life sciences publishing.
  • Strong grammar, language, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in copyediting and familiarity with major citation styles (APA, AMA, Chicago).
  • Experience with rights and permissions processes.
  • Knowledge of composition and basic production technologies.
  • Ability to work independently while keeping managers informed of project status, quality, and cost.
  • Experience with content management systems a plus.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Contract Terms
  • Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension to full-time employment.
