Job Description

We are hiring our Product Development Manager to drive the development and success of our product lines. You will own the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and design to launch and post-launch optimization. You will report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of the management team, responsible for building out the organization.

As a product expert with experience in manufacturing, you will be responsible for elevating the overall direction and development of all product categories, including cabinet hardware, bath accessories, furniture, shelving, drapery hardware, and table top.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Development: Lead cross-functional teams (including design, engineering, marketing, and sales) to conceptualize, develop, and launch new products.
  • Roadmapping: Create and maintain comprehensive product roadmaps and timelines, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company goals.
  • Product Requirements: Define clear and detailed product requirements based on market needs, competitive analysis, and customer feedback.
  • User Experience: Champion the user experience, collaborating closely with UX/UI designers to create intuitive and visually appealing products.
  • Partner with Design: Review concept sketches, technical drawings and CAD files to ensure product quality, production friendliness, and information accuracy.
  • Technical Documentation: Outsource support to create documentation for the technicalities of the end-to-end product development process. Create and update linesheet and development specs throughout the sample development process from spec sheet submission to final pricing and catalog development.
  • Prototyping: Implement a rapid prototyping, 3D printing, testing, and iteration process to refine products based on user feedback and performance data.
  • Manufacturing Oversight and Sampling: Lead communication with vendors, source materials (eventually to be run by Sourcing Lead) and oversee sampling feedback.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Drive sales by developing effective go-to-market plans, including pricing, positioning, promotion, and distribution strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for domestic and oversees stakeholders, providing regular updates on product development status, milestones, and challenges.
  • Team Building: Help hire, onboard, and manage the company's first CAD Designer, Sourcing Manager, and additional team members who will be crucial to the product development journey
  • Continuous Market Analysis: Keeping a pulse on the industry by conducting thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and customer preferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development; in-house product development experience in hard goods is a must.
  • Understanding of product management principles and best practices.
  • Strong time-management skills, independent drive, and the ability to work under pressure and deliver projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire your team.
  • Experience managing and growing teams. Leadership abilities with a collaborative approach to working across teams and departments.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Resourcefulness of efficiently utilizing available tools and materials, finding innovative solutions to challenges, and optimizing processes to meet goals.
