Responsible for day to day execution of three Kowalski Company facilities Food Safety Management Systems to ensure compliance to local, State, and Federal regulations. The FSQA Director is responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of FSQA programs for both USDA and FDA regulated facilities.
Quality Management Systems
Develop and maintain quality programs that support continuous improvement, internal auditing, CAPA, and FSP compliance.
Manages the plants internal and external auditing programs and ensures that the plants are always audit ready.
Lead facility food safety team meetings and maintain required documentation.
Lead certification audits and GFSI scheme status and requirements.
Manage Supplier Approval Programs.
Local, State, and Federal Regulations
Ensure timely corrections are made to all inspection procedures and practices.
Train site on proper inspection procedures and practices.
Strong working knowledge with regulations, ordinances or compliance guides governing the manufacturing of the products at the facilties including FSMA.
Develops and improves Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs
Manages sites Food Safety Library, SSOP's, FSPs, HACCP and other regulatory related documentation.
Develops and manages all regulatory training for all plant personnel.
Ensure compliance to policies, SOP's, SSOP's, and GMP's.
Mange FSP verifications and validations.
Develop Food Safety team subordinates.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or related field with at least 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong aptitude for data analysis and information reporting.
Ability to communicate with all members of the organization and to create standardized methods for project management processes.
Problem solving skills and ability to manage projects and ensure completion.
Technical knowledge of food safety/quality procedures and programs, microbial hazards, and sanitation procedures.
Working knowledge of GFSI certification standards.
Experience with both USDA and FDA regulations.
Work Environment
Exposure to heated, refrigerated, and damp environments.
Use of standard PPE required.
This is a full time, in person position. Start time is early in the morning and the demands of the job dictate flexibility in schedule, which can include Saturday work.
