Job Description:

Foster Graham Milstein & Calisher, LLLP (FGMC), is hiring for a position that will either be a Senior Land Use Advisor or a Land Use Advisor, depending upon the successful candidate's prior job experience, as described in detail below. The ideal candidate will have expertise in land use, transportation, infrastructure, and development entitlements. FGMC is a law firm that has a successful land use and real estate practice group. The firm represents clients in a wide variety of land use, real estate, and government relations matters.

This position allows for some flexibility, depending on the candidate's professional experience level and interest. Our need is for a planning professional who can:

  • Analyze land use and permitting issues from a variety of perspectives, including regulator and regulated party;
  • Balance small, discrete tasks with larger, more complex developments using excellent project management skills;
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to clients, local governments, agencies, and colleagues, often advocating complex or controversial projects or policy positions; and,
  • Collaborate with teams of attorneys, planners, policy professionals, engineers, urban designers, and other consultants while being comfortable in both a lead and support capacity.

Preferred Qualifications for Land Use Advisor:

  • Master's degree in planning or a related field.
  • Six to eight (6-8) years of practical experience in a planning role.
  • American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP)?designation.

Preferred Qualifications for Senior Land Use Advisor:

  • Master's degree in planning or a related field.
  • More than ten (10) years of practical experience in a planning role.
  • American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP)?designation.
  • Leadership level experience in planning departments or planning firms; demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with elected and appointed officials.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can take direction, work autonomously, and be entrepreneurial. This position is an excellent opportunity for a professional planner who wants to expand their knowledge base and range of professional experience.

The anticipated salary range for the?Land Use Advisor level is $90,000 - $125,000 annually.

The anticipated salary range for the Senior Land Use Advisor level is $125,000 - $175,000 annually.

Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range based on relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
