Overview:

The Manufacturing Process Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the review and development of manufacturing processes to meet all customer contractual, program, design, and quality requirements. This role involves leading the assessment of spring designs, estimating product costs and lead times, and providing technical support throughout the production process. The supervisor will also serve as a key interface between the production team and customers, ensuring that all products meet or exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities:
  • Review spring designs and determine manufacturing processes to ensure all customer contractual, program, design, and quality requirements are met.
  • Apply specialized knowledge of processes, machine capabilities, and material properties to develop manufacturing solutions that satisfy customer specifications.
  • Lead the review of design documentation, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), to confirm alignment with contractual and quality standards.
  • Develop product cost estimates and manufacturing lead times in response to requests for quotations (RFQs).
  • Provide direction and interpretation of customer specifications to determine internal and external costs (hours and dollars) required for tooling, programming, gages, and special fixtures necessary for production.
  • Identify sources for materials and outside processes, obtaining quotes as needed to incorporate into overall cost estimates.
  • Provide technical and advisory support to the production area to ensure product development aligns with customer expectations and design requirements.
  • Serve as the primary interface with customers for product inquiries, assisting in the design and development of new products to meet specific customer needs.
  • Oversee contract reviews of customer purchase orders and quality requirements to identify production needs and create accurate production routings.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to optimize efficiency and meet production deadlines.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively to ensure timely completion of all work, maintaining strong time management and organizational skills.

Experience:
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly in spring design and production.
  • Proficient in interpreting customer specifications and applying specialized process knowledge to develop effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Experience with cost estimation, lead time development, and the preparation of detailed quotations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support the production team in meeting customer expectations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interface with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead design reviews and ensure all manufacturing and quality requirements are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving production goals.
  • Proficiency in identifying and managing sources for materials and outside processes to support production needs.

Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing process supervision, with a focus on spring design and production.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation, APQP, and contract review.
  • Strong understanding of material properties and machine capabilities related to spring manufacturing.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively.
