The Superintendent is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned to achieve safe, quality, and profitable projects completed in a timely manner. The Superintendent directly supervises the field labor force, including laborers/craft workers. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organization, time management, effective communication, and client service skills.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety
Promotes Cantera's culture of "Safety First"
Communicates with Safety Professionals to ensure a safe workplace
Proactively identifies and halts unsafe work practices, and promptly reports them to management to ensure a safe work environment
Operational
Report project manhours and quantities on a timely basis
Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force
Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts
Maintain a working relationship with internal and external clients
Develop and maintain site logistics plans in coordination with the Project Manager
Monitor costs, including labor, time, and material
Manage schedule and ensure all activities take place on or ahead of schedule
Maintain and verify as-built drawings are accurate
Mobilize the site and set up site utilities
Assure necessary permits are secured and inspections occur
Inspect cost reports to ensure they reflect accurate quantities
Review, understand, document to drawings, and assist Project Managers with all Requests for Information (RFIs)
Actively coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and craft workers to meet project schedule
Maintain on-site accurate shop drawings for implementing the work
Complete Daily Project Reports, Concrete Logs, Sign-in sheets, and other documents
Coach and mentor crews
Coordinate location of control for layout with the Cantera Field Engineering Department
Other duties as assigned
JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES GUIDELINES:
Broad understanding of the concrete construction industry

QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience
Four (4) years of construction experience
Three (3) years of concrete experience
Certifications
OSHA 30 preferred but not required
CPR preferred but not required
First Aid preferred but not required
ACI Concrete Testing Technician preferred but not required
ACI Concrete Flatwork Technician preferred but not required
WORK CONDITIONS AND HOURS
Works on-site over rough terrain
Requires overtime hours
Often exposed to the elements
Must be comfortable with travel on an as-needed basis
Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
Some weekends are required
Frequent activity of standing, kneeling, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulders, pushing and pulling
Must be able to climb and work at heights above 6 feet
