A Day in the Life
The Self Pay Credit Services Representative is responsible for handling a high volume of account reconciliation tasks handling credit and or debit AR, processing refund requests, adjustments, money transfers and write off requests. Processing customer correspondence and customer receipt and statement requests. Handle inbound and outbound calls from customers related to payments and sales peers related to payment plans and or other customer requests as needed, providing world-class customer service, updating patient accounts with appropriate transactions and notes. Help support internal departments with Financial Assistance approvals as well as third-party payment plan arrangements.


  • Perform full reconciliation on assigned workview, self-pay collections including, but not limited to, correspondence, e-mails, voicemails, insurance verification, write-offs, work view and other projects as the need is presented.

  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers; maintain a professional attitude when speaking with customers.

  • Escalate customer complaints that cannot be turned around to the appropriate department or supervisor.

  • Adhere to assigned schedule for the start of shift, breaks, lunches

  • Ability to pull EOB from various websites and answer questions regarding Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

  • Ability to read and understand the information provided in remittance advices, and other payer

  • correspondence from a wide variety of sources including government and commercial payers.

  • Maintain work view at inflow to ensure prompt account resolution to increase cash collections and or reduce Self Pay credit balance accounts.

  • Meet standard of 95% or higher of productivity goal and maintain an average quality score of 2.80 or above.

  • Assist with assignments as directed by management

  • Ability to be flexible with working hours within given adequate notice.

  • Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately

  • Assist in the training of new employees as needed.

  • Know all standard corporate and departmental policies and procedures and function as an Collection Clerk in the Department of Patient Financial Services.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with internal and

  • external customer both in person and over the telephone.

  • Perform all daily tasks independently, while working as part of a team, within a demanding environment, with the ability to perform under frequent interruptions and/or distractions.

MUST HAVE: Minimum Requirements

IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION, THE FOLLOWING BASIC QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE EVIDENT ON YOUR RESUME


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Requires minimum of 2 years of relevant experience supporting healthcare collections

NICE TO HAVE: Desired/Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet and web site navigation

  • Experience with healthcare revenue cycle operations, including inter- and intra- departmental processes, Information Technology, and systems integration

  • Experience on Centricity GE system, Collect and SAP.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with internal and external customers both in person and over the telephone.

  • Typing skills and 10-key pad by touch to accurately process various data and documents with speed and accuracy.

  • Skill in maintaining files in a logically organized fashion.

  • Skills in performing all daily independently, while working as part of a team, within a demanding environment.

  • Previous experience on SAP and TRAC

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$38,000- $57,000

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
