Role description:

The Resilience Environment group is seeking an entry-level Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental Restoration Team. This position will be based out of our Highlands Ranch, CO office. We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling big challenges and developing sustainable and equitable solutions. Collaborating with our experienced professionals, you will support the development of projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical, communications, and project management capabilities.

Role accountabilities:

In this technical role, you will support various project teams across areas such as environmental site characterization, investigation, remediation, and post-remediation monitoring. Collaborating closely with more experienced technical staff, you will support and report to project technical leads as well as project and task managers. You will help project teams understand technical challenges and then develop and implement effective solutions. It is expected that you will be ready to apply previously developed skills in basic programing and statistical analysis immediately. Primary areas of practice include statistics, monitored natural attenuation (MNA), monitoring program optimization, geochemistry, bioremediation, and in-situ chemical injections. Additional areas of involvement may include critical minerals research and development efforts,

Your core duties will include:


  • Conducting statistical analysis (trend analysis, interval estimators, hypothesis testing, descriptive statistics, etc.), data analysis and basic modeling
  • Methodology development and documentation; specifically, developing solutions to conduct tasks more efficiently and effectively (e.g., data automation).
  • Integrating lines of evidence from a variety of data streams into conceptual site model development.
  • Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda
  • Task coordination, performing QA/QC, regulatory file reviews, and historical file reviews.
  • Participation in team meetings to explain key concepts to project teams and updates on project progress and challenges

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, exhibit independent thinking, and have a strong attention to detail. You should be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to be adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member.

The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on technical excellence and strategic thinking, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative mindset. Proficiency in programming languages like R or Python, along with advanced Excel skills for complex evaluations and task automation, is essential. The ideal candidate will also have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time and within budget. A willingness to learn new skills, serve as a technical resource, and bring adaptive, creative solutions to project challenges is key.

In summary, this position would encompass mostly office work (scope preparation; data analysis, presentation, and reporting; task management) with potential for project related field work., as-needed. Travel expenses are reimbursable.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science in Geology, Engineering, or closely related field (i.e., environmental, biological, physical science)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Geology, Engineering or closely related field (i.e., environmental, biological, physical science)
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Related internship experience
  • Experience managing large datasets
  • Coursework related to environmental chemistry, statistics, and engineering computation

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $55,900- $83,850. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
