JOB DESCRIPTION:

Role Summary

KB Signaling has an opening for a Manager of the Product Solutions Engineer (PSE) team. The PSE team plays a key role in the KB Signaling business as it serves to connect railroad customers to KB Signaling product and service solutions. The PSE team members are experts in train control equipment, crossing equipment, switch machines, and relays, and apply their product application knowledge to solve customer needs. The PSEs also represent the voice of the customer back into the business to help influence new product features and capabilities. The PSE team serves railroad customers in transit, short-line, class-one, and international markets.

The PSE Manager is responsible for leading the PSE team in their business-critical mission, developing and retaining a depth of technical talent, fostering a high-energy, “can-do”, customer-pleasing work ethic, ensuring individual and team objectives are exceeded throughout each year, and rewarding excellent achievements. The PSE Manager will interface directly with various KB Signaling organizations including Product Managers, Product Engineering, Field Service Engineering, Business Development, Manufacturing, and Customer Service. In addition, the PSE Manager will interface directly with railroad customers.

A PSE Manager may be expected to travel up to 20% of the time on average to fully manage the PSE organization.

Essential Responsibilities

• Communicate a vision to the PSE Team and lead the team in their mission.
• Set and manage PSE Team objectives, measuring achievements throughout the year.
• Understand PST Team proactive and reactive tactical initiatives weekly.
• Ensure the PSE Team delivers on internal and external commitments.
• Triage and prioritize all new PSE assignments.
• Provide training opportunities specific to PSE needs.
• Manage PSE Team budgets for equipment, facilities, training, and travel.
• Ensure PSEs obtain all necessary devices and services necessary to manage their information rich responsibilities.
• Develop and manage PSE Team processes and procedures.
• Evaluate PSE performance routinely and transparently, rewarding achievements.
• Manage PSE Team capacity needs reacting to changing business demands.
• Foster team unity, cohesion, and comradery.
• Develop PSEs to tackle larger business roles.

Qualification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of railroad signal experience applying wayside signaling, crossing, and/or switch machine products to the railroad while resolving field issues. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including international travel.

Location

The PSE Manager position is located in Grain Valley, Missouri (KB Signaling headquarters) and leads PSE individuals located at other KB Signaling sites including Melbourne, FL, Jacksonville, FL, and Rochester, NY.
